Being kind is one of the most important contribution you can make to your community. It's never too early to teach kids to be kind in heart and action. The Kindness Connection has compiled some of our favorite acts of kindness and daily kind behaviors that can be present in your home. Some of these are for kids and some for parents. A parent's actions and behaviors influence and mold your child more than anything else!

- Be courteous – Hold the door for the person coming up behind you. Even if you have to wait a few extra seconds.
- Help carry someone’s groceries.
- Lay your neighbor's newspaper at his/her front step.
- Sing an employee’s praises to a manager or comment card – a little recognition of positives (not just negatives) goes a long way!
- On trash day wheel your neighbors trash out to the curb.
- Give your mom a hug and thank you card on your birthday – after all she deserves some credit for your life!
- Take kindness on the road- pay a toll for the car behind you.
- Bake bread or cookies and deliver the food to a local fire station or group home.
- Pick up trash at a park or playground.
- Share the wealth: Ask the grocery clerk to apply your unused coupons to another customer's items.
- Say something nice to your parents or friends. Pay a compliment and make someone feel good.
- Make sure to say "bless you" when someone sneezes.
- Be kind to a stranger. Do something nice for someone you don’t know.
- Donate your toys or old clothes to a local group home or charity (involve your kids in packing up some of their items and making a drop together).
- Say "thank you" and "please" every day without fail.
- Smile at someone for no reason and say hello.
- Volunteer your time or give to charity.
- Send someone a kind email or card.
- If you see someone being bullied, stand up for them.
- Say "I love you" more often to your family and friends.
- Offer someone a hug for no reason.
- Prepare a meal for a homeless person.
- Donate books to a local library.
- Stop everything to help someone else.
