11/15/09 - Volunteer in Honor of Veteran's Day - We are hosting a volunteer event at the Wilmette Recreation Center (3000 Glenview Rd. Wilmette IL 60091) in honor of Veteran's Day. Our country is grateful to our nation's military service members for their dedication, courage, accomplishments and sacrifices to protect our everyday freedoms. The Kindness Connection volunteers will pay tribute to active duty military as well as veterans by making patriotic projects that will go to the Hines VA hospital and other organizations. 2-4pm. All ages welcome.
10/25/09 - Make A Difference Day - Be a part of the national "Make A Difference Day," developed and promoted by USA WEEKEND Magazine, the Points of Light Foundation, and Newman's Own, as this country's largest day of volunteering. Join millions of other Americans to make the world a better place and help others. Volunteers will be doing fun hands-on activities at the Wilmette Recreation Center (3000 Glenview Rd. Wilmette IL 60091) to brighten the day of those in need. 2-4pm. All ages welcome.
9/13/09 - The Kindness Connection Kick Off - Join us at the Wilmette Recreation Center (3000 Glenview Rd. Wilmette IL 60091) to use hands and hearts to create projects to benefit the elderly in honor of Grandparents Day, to provide care packages to orphaned Armenian children and more. 2-4pm. All ages welcome.
5/29/09 - Join The Kindness Connection at Kirathon 2009 - Kira was a warm, loving 13-year-old Wilmette Junior High student when she died in 2006. One of her many passions was art. Every year, people come together to honor Kira and to raise funds for art therapy at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. 4/23/09 - The Kindness Connection Brings Service and Inspiration to "Bring Your Children To Work" Day - On April 23, 2009, The Kindess Connection will bring in craft activities to the Boston Consulting Group's Chicago,IL office as part of their "Bring Your Children to Work Day" program. The children will make projects to benefit four charitable organizations: Meals on Wheels, Head Start, Special Olympics, and a global outreach program for blind children.
3/8/09 - Spring Ahead & Volunteer on March 8, 2009 - It's Daylight Savings Time on March 8, 2009 and time to re-set our clocks. Even though we all lose one hour that day, make your time count by volunteering with The Kindness Connection. Come to our Spring Ahead Volunteer event on Sunday March 8, 2009 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Wilmette Recreation Center, 3000 Glenview Rd., Wilmette IL 60091. We will welcome spring by making planters for Little Brothers/Friends of the Elderly senior centers and other spring-themed projects designed to brighten the days of everyone in need. Join us as we make get well cards for wounded troops, backpacks for children in hospitals, Special Olympics medals, treats for animals in shelters, and more. All ages are welcome.
2/22/09 - Northwestern Alumni Club of Chicago - Join us at the John Evans Center in Evanston for the 3rd Annual afternoon volunteer event fit for the entire family. NU alums will work on various projects to benefit Habitat for Humanity and help complete service projects for other nonprofits -- including organizations which serve children in need, the elderly, veterans, and sheltered animals. All ages are welcome.
2/8/09 - Answer the President's Call to Renew America! The Kindness Connection invites people of all ages to join their volunteers at Starland, The North Shore's Premier Creativity Center for Kids (710 Robert York Avenue, Suite D, Deerfield, IL 60015) from 2-4:00pm on Sunday 2/8/09 in order to make bookmarks for the blind, get well cards for wounded troops, backpacks for children in hospitals, Special Olympics medals, and more. The Kindness Connection charges a $5 fee per participant in order to cover materials and administrative costs. To pre-register, contact info@thekindnessconnection.org.
1/19/09 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service - Join The Kindness Connection at the Winnetka Park District (540 Hibbard Rd., Winnetka IL) from 2-4pm to make Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream come alive. The great civil rights leader said "Everyone can be great. Because everyone can serve." Volunteers will be doing fun hands-on service projects, including making pillows for hospital patients, catnip toys for an animal shelter, and medals for Special Olympians. The King Day of Service is a day to remember, celebrate, and ACT.
